Being healthy is much more than if you have a diagnosed condition or not. In fact, our bodies are designed to adjust to keep us in an internal balance, or homeostasis, so that we can continue to survive. However, imbalances occur, and many are due to levels of inflammation.
Inflammation is the body’s normal response to injury, infection or toxins. Acute inflammation is designed to help you heal from a recent injury or an illness. However, if inflammation persists it becomes a different type of inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a long-term persistent immune response that leads to damage over time and eventually disease.
This is the first step in working together. Consider this a mini-private consult. This allows us time to chat, understand your goals, specific health challenges, and where you need to focus. You will learn more about my approach to nutrition and wellness and from there we can determine the appropriate next steps.
This is where we begin your health journey. You will be asked to fill out paperwork that will capture your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and dietary intake. This paperwork will need to be completed prior to the meeting, and any labs uploaded to our portal, to allow time for review. During the initial intake, we will discuss your goals, health, lifestyle, and individual concerns. This will be followed by a nutrition-focused physical exam and a review of your dietary intake. Each session is individualized and the information provided will cater to your needs. Together we will discuss and design a plan which works with your lifestyle and is achievable. The path towards wellness doesn’t happen overnight and often requires more than one session. It is a process as clients work through dietary and lifestyle changes to achieve their goals. Let us help you be successful in achieving your goals.
Follow-up sessions are offered every 2-4 weeks after the initial consultation meeting and are typically 30-45 minutes in length. In these meetings, we will review your successes, discuss any challenges, and devise modifications as necessary to your initial individualized plan. These modifications may be to address roadblocks or maybe to incorporate new interventions as you’ve successfully completed an original goal.
Based on the appointment and individual, sometimes additional testing is warranted to help determine the root cause of dysfunction. This may include stool testing, food sensitivity testing, organic acid testing, micronutrient testing, and salivary testing.
